Is Gordon Brown at last doing the decent - 'prudent'- thing? SCRAPPING the obsolete, the wasteful the irrelevant CROSSRAIL? [161]

Has KHOODEELAAR! No to “CRASSrail hole plot...” CAMPAIGN an authoritative source inside the London EVENING STANDARD? Ooooooops! EVENING nostandards STANDARD! There must be, mustn’t there? For at 1030 GMT today Tuesday 7 October 2008 KHOODEELAAR! published on the AADHIKARonline a campaign commentary about an item which had this headline, “ KHOODEELAAR! 'anticipates' a headline like this ,' End of line for city’s Crossrail'' . That item was about a miniature ‘Crossrail’ at and around the Scottish town of Aberdeen......Within minutes of our publication, the London EVENING nostandards STANDARD, which has been THE propaganda organ for peddling the Big Business London CRASSrail for at least the past 6 years, published an item with the following heda, ine, “Crisis puts the Crossrail sums on wrong lines”. And their story, PRINTED at page 34 [‘Business’ ‘City SPY’] of the early editions, read as follows: “ Anxious times for those involved in the Crossrail project, where key funding documents remain unsigned and the downturn and falling property values have put major question marks against some of the calculations. There are doubts about the predicted profits from the redevelopment of land at the bottom end of Tottenham Court Road belonging to Transport for London. Meanwhile, airports operator BAA and the City Corporation have yet to finally sign off their contributions towards the £17 billion bill.
TfL is also to raise a £2.7 billion contingency fund, secured against future fares — something that looks precarious in the current climate. Then there is the planned £3.5 billion levy from London businesses. It seems hardly the right moment to be asking small shops and firms for cash when they are struggling in the credit crunch.
Over and above all that, there is the suspicion that Gordon Brown may wish to delay the development. Building a new express-link for City banks, which are hardly popular in the country at present, could be the last thing he needs as he copes with public finances that are shot to bits.
The counter-argument says that the Prime Minister would not dare to lose face with the City by backtracking on Crossrail, and that a further postponement of the long-fought-for scheme would send a terrible signal about London's claim to be the world's leading financial centre. The last few weeks have shown, if nothing else, just how vital a dynamic City is to the economy and that therefore he will push ahead.
But Brown has also got an Olympic Games to contend with, which just happen to be in the same part of the UK as Crossrail. That too is suffering, with the financing of the 2012 Olympic Village provoking alarm in Whitehall.
City Spy would not be surprised at all if Crossrail was to slow... ”

The word ‘Crossrail’ is like a contagious cult concocted by the touts and peddlers of Big Business bent on looting the public wherever they can

KHOODEELAAR! TOLD YOU SO! The word ‘Crossrail’ is like a contagious cult concocted by the touts and peddlers of Big Business bent on looting the public wherever there is a likely scope for them to do such looting...... But in Scotland, even Alex Salmond currently the ‘First Minister’ at the Holyrood, Edinburgh, citadel [of unholy bribery and sleaze] of the Scottish parliament and a man who is not so unfriendly to BiG business himself, is unable to support the Aberdeen CRASSrail.....

FEARS PROJECT TO BE AXED IN FACE OF RISING AWPR COSTS
Published: 07/10/2008

TRANSPORT Minister Stewart Stevenson will be pressed to confirm Scottish Government backing for a £200million commuter rail project for the north-east tomorrow.

Liberal Democrat transport spokeswoman Alison McInnes is due to meet the minister to discuss the future of the Aberdeen Crossrail project amid fears it is to be dropped.

Concern that the SNP administration wants to shelve the project in the face of the escalating cost of the proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route have arisen in recent weeks.

Government agency Transport Scotland believes the business case for Aberdeen Crossrail is weak.

Mr Stevenson has said opening two new stations in Aberdeen is not as attractive a proposition as increasing the frequency of trains to communities in the region.

After fears that Mr Stevenson was refusing to dis- cuss the issue, he has finally agreed to see Ms McInnes early tomorrow morning.

Ms McInnes, MSP for North East Scotland and former chairwoman of regional transport partnership Nestrans, said she was relieved that Mr Stevenson had agreed to discuss the project.

“Before the election, this project had cross-party support and was hailed as a key transport priority for the north-east,” she said.

“Now, post-election, the SNP appears to be backing away from it.

“I will be seeking confirmation that the transport minister is fully committed to the Aberdeen Crossrail.

“If he is unable to give me that promise, then he must explain to me and indeed people across the north-east why he is turning his back on this vital infrastructure link for the region.”

KHOODEELAAR! updating the evidence of CRASS conduct by Crossrail hole scam pluggers:

As the ‘British’ Chamber of commerce confirms the UK to be in recession, the CRASS pluggers of the crassly conceived Crossrail hole scam carry on their publicity and propaganda regardless. They are in denial now that the UK is in recession. Just as they were in denial when the KHOODEELAAR! campaign warned them almost 5 years ago that the UK economy was heading for a fall.... The KHOODEELAAR! campaign has been as much against the City of London’s corrupt ploy Crossrail hole scam as it has been and is the definitive inner cities action and analytical resource against the ideology of the looting City of London and the looters who staff, operate and man and woman the corrupting looting city of London and its assorted associates conglomerates and colluders...the BIG BUSINESS that contaminate the world.....
