KHOODEELAAR! evidential commentary on Brian Paddick’s piece about the ‘crisis’ in the Metropolitan Police [3rd instalment of the day 11 Apr 2009]
What is the logical, constitutional, democratic link between Brian Paddick’s piece in today’s Independent and the comments he had made in January 2008 ‘against’ Crossrail?
Loads of links!
Many links.
Plenty of links.
Too many to enumerate. To list. To count.

I am writing to put on the record my sense of utter astonishment at coming across a quotation in your item apparently reporting the position on Crossrail as taken by Brian Paddock, one of the candidates at the scheduled 1 May 2008 election for the ‘post of mayor of London’.

You quote him as follows:-

“There's a bias against commuters in south west London. Money going into projects like Crossrail don't benefit them at all," he said.

Did he actually say those words?

I am only asking this because in the period since he has been the declared candidate for the post for the Liberal Democrats, Mr Paddick has not come across as making any similar statement about Crossrail.

This is very serious.

Also, when he appeared on the ITV programme ' packaged as a ‘debate’ between the three candidates including Mr Paddick and Boris Johnson and the incumbent Ken Livingstone, Mr Paddick was the one that opted OUT of that segment of the broadcast programme which was dedicated to the issue of CROSSRAIL.

In fact Crossrail was the subject that was shown on the ITV programme to have caused one of the main ‘forceful’ exchanges between Johnson and Livingstone, with Brian Paddick fading out of focus!

So what is the point that he is making in the statement you attribute to him?

Also, he has NOT made any comment similar to the one you report him as having made apparently questioning the cost of Crossrail, about the Crossrail scheme in relation to the main role played by all the ‘ Lib Dem spokespersons’ on transport in London as evident on their records .

Nor did Mr Paddick question the promotion of Crossrail that was sung by Lib Deems MP Susan Kramer at the ‘Third Reading’ of the ‘Crossrail Bill’ as held in the House of Commons on 13 December 2007.

Equally, Mr Paddick has not disowned, on the record and in public the position on Crossrail as exhibited by any of the others in the Lib Dems party who have been part of the parade of the pro-Crossrail lobby over the past four years.

That parade has included the Lib Dem MP Lynne Featherstone who in 2005-2006 was one of the very few MPs that went to the verge of hysteria in denouncing both Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling for their alleged reluctance to provide the public funding for the Crossrail scheme.

KHOODEELAAR! evidential commentary on Brian Paddick’s piece about the ‘crisis’ in the Metropolitan Police

The main finding on the facts and contents of what he has published today is that Mr Paddick is WRONG on the remedies he commends. He is of course right to point out some aspects and indices of the crisis. But he has way too far to go before he can be taken as a credible source of answers to the problems of policing in London.....

Brian Paddick's intellectual flaws as shown in his piece are similar to those of the LIB DEMS PARTY. WHETHER HE IS OFFICIALLY IN THAT PARTY OR NOT IS NOT THE POINT. THE POINT IS THAT HE too is in denial about the real problems that this society faces..

The Lib Dems Party has NEVER produced an accurate picture of the problem in any part of society. So the question does not even arise as to its remedies.

Policing crisis is a symptom of the deeper crisis in the main society..

Going by what he has published via the Independent today, Mr Paddick is in denial about those.. Unless those are recognized, the policing crisis cannot be solved...

KHOODEELAAR! has carried out a detailed empirical examination of the behaviour of UK Political parties. This investigation has so far taken place over 5 years and three months. In the course of our investigation, which is still ongoing, we have found the Lib Dems Party in policy contradictions on all major occasions.

What is happening on the political side of Policing is traceable to the absence of democratic accountability by those who are supposed to oversee policing in the democratic context.

That is the real deficit which needs urgent and real addressing.

KHOODEELAAR! evidential note on the latest published piece of lying and conspiracy to defame straight from No 10 Downing Street [3]

0858 Hrs GMT London Saturday 11 April 2009:

KHOODEELAAR! No to unethicality in a Parliament that is supposed to be the forum for democratic accountability but is treated in fact as a stooge of Big Business interests and agencies.....

COMMENTING on the state of failure to uphold basic standards in the regime now fronted by Gordon Brown who was trapped by Big Business into making that ill-advised and wasteful commitment to fund with public money the Big Business Crossrail scam...........

.Lack of ethics and morality in the conduct of those who are the central core of the regime fronted by Gordon Brown can only discredit Brown himself... Where are the ‘vah-loos’ that Brown so persistently sermonises about? A civil society which is being subjected to military rule by stealth, Gordon Brown is slipping the main wagon where Government is supposed to be housed and carried, fast into a very failing state position here in the UK... Surely there is something very fundamentally wrong in a society where people at the top of - or at any rate those OCCUPYING some of the most sensitive and important posts at the top of the Government are hogging the headlines so often for so much wrongdoing, lack of morality and downright embarrassing conduct ......

Downing Street was today embroiled in an embarrassing dirty tricks row amid claims that one of Gordon Brown's senior aides sent emails smearing top Tories.

The 'juvenile and inappropriate' messages are said to have been littered with innuendo and lurid allegations about the private lives of David Cameron, George Osborne and other Conservative MPs.

They were sent in January from a supposedly secure Number 10 account by special adviser Damian McBride.

Inappropriate: The emails sent by Damian McBride (l) to political blogger Derek Draper (r) were deemed 'juvenile and inappropriate' by Number 10

However, in a development which will alarm security chiefs, they have since fallen into the hands of Paul Staines, one of Britain’s most controversial political bloggers, who writes under the name 'Guido Fawkes'.

The emails had been sent originally to Derek Draper, a close friend of Lord Mandelson, who also runs an influential political blog.

If they were obtained by someone hacking into the Number 10 computer system or into Mr Draper’s computer, the police will almost certainly be called in to investigate.

But as Downing Street hurriedly distanced Gordon Brown from the affair last night a spokesman insisted: 'We are not aware of any security breach in the No 10 system.'

He added: 'Neither the Prime Minister nor anybody else in Downing Street, except the author, knew anything about any of these private emails.

'The author of these emails has apologised for their juvenile and inappropriate nature and for the embarrassment caused.

Smutty: The emails are said to contain lurid allegations about David Cameron's personal life

'All staff will be reminded of the appropriate use of Number 10 resources.'

One Sunday newspaper is understood to be preparing to publish full embarrassing details of the email exchanges, although a source close to the Downing Street official and Mr Draper himself played down their content.

The source told the Daily Telegraph: 'They were knocking round some ideas for a blog, but the whole thing never got past first base.

'To call it an orchestrated smear campaign is ridiculous. It was just some ill-judged gossip between friends which was never meant to see the light of day. They appear to be some ideas — laid out in embarrassing detail — for stories which could appear on a Left-wing version of the Guido Fawkes blog called Red Rag.

'They’re all stories which have been doing the rounds in Westminster for a while, written up in a scurrilous style. But the website has never appeared, so it’s hard to see what it was all about.

'It’s just embarrassing for Number 10 that members of staff are spending their time sending smutty emails to their mates instead of running the country.'

Labour strategists have become increasingly concerned that the party is losing the internet war to Right-leaning bloggers and in January Mr Draper set up a website, LabourList.org.

It attacked Mr Staines - who is hostile to the Government - and collated a dossier with evidence about the 'past and present activities of Paul Staines, aka Guido Fawkes'.

Mr Staines has in the past accused Damian McBride, a senior Downing Street adviser, of orchestrating Mr Draper’s campaigns against alleged racist remarks on the Guido Fawkes website.

For the past two days he has featured a picture of Mr McBride in a shotgun's cross-sights on his blog under the headline: 'He Who Lives By The Smear...', but with no other detail.
