High speed railway could see homes demolished
Mar 12 2010 By Michael Russell

Plans for a high speed railway have sparked fears of residents in this area losing their homes and traffic chaos during the construction.
Although the new line linking London to Birmingham will mostly follow existing routes through industrial areas, its path will take it through residential Perivale and the busy traffic hub Hanger Lane as it follows the path of the Central Line.
Ealing North MP Steve Pound said as many as 26 homes in Perivale could be affected by the new line dubbed High Speed Two.
He added: "It comes out of Old oak Common, down to the Hanger lane Gyratory, runs parallel to the north of the A40, back into industrial areas and across the bridge to Perivale Station. Once past the station it goes into a very built-up, residential area. I think it is in the national interest for us to have a high-speed rail service but not at the expense of the people of Perivale."
There is some consolation for Ealing residents: an Exceptional Hardship Scheme means the government would buy the homes of those affected at full market rate.
And the trains will run at regular speeds while travelling through the borough. They will be out of London before they reach up to 225 miles an hour, a speed which will take them about seven and a half miles to stop.
Old Oak Common, on the borders of Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham boroughs, has been chosen as the preferred site for a transport hub linking High Speed Two with Crossrail and services to Heathrow.
Ealing Council leader Jason Stacey is also concerned about the plans. He said: "I saw the map of the route and it set off quite a few alarm bells. We want to know more about the impact it's going to have on the people who live here as we understand there will have to be demolition of properties to enable it to happen. The devil is in the detail and the first bit of detail has not been great."
The plans are by no means certain and if they did go ahead High Speed Two would not be built until 2026 with construction not starting until 2019.
Euston would be the central London station and it would cut journey times to Birmingham by 30 minutes, reducing travel time to about 50 minutes.
Future networks from Birmingham up to the north of England and Scotland are to be proposed, creating a larger high-speed network.
Announcing the plans yesterday, transport secretary Lord Adonis said the network would 'enable key local, national and international networks to be better integrated.'
And referring to the Old Oak Common interchange he added: ""Such a Crossrail Interchange station would deliver a fast and frequent service to London's West End, the City and Docklands giving a total journey time, for example, from central Birmingham to Canary Wharf of just 70 minutes and from Leeds to Canary Wharf of just 1 hour 40 minutes.
"This Crossrail Interchange station would also provide a fast, one-stop Heathrow Express service to Heathrow, in place of the long and tortuous journey to the airport currently experienced by passengers arriving at Euston, Kings Cross and St Pancras."
The Gazette was still waiting for a response from the Department for Transport to the concerns surrounding the impact High Speed Two will make on the borough.

A special edition of the Evening Standard was today handed to MPs as part of The Dispossessed campaign on poverty in the capital.
The 16-page issue brought together the reports and detailed analysis featured during our five-day series on the plight of London's forgotten poor. The supplement includes a "call to arms" by Prince William.
Evening Standard editor Geordie Greig said in a letter to MPs today: "The response from our readers was unprecedented. Thousands came forward to say they would not tolerate this degradation, many offering money and help. Our campaign is not over. It is an issue to which we will keep returning.
"We challenged leaders of all three main political parties to set out their plans to tackle poverty. So far, we say very clearly that they have not done or said enough." Copies have gone to all 650 MPs and leading opinion formers.
Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper said: "I think the Standard campaign has been really powerful." Justine Greening, Conservative shadow minister for London and Putney MP, said: "I see these problems every week in my surgery." The Dispossessed reports revealed babies still being buried in paupers' graves and children in the East End with Third World malnutrition.

Khoodeelaar! Told UK D Cameron so! That big biz agenda scam Crossrail was a diversion, a waste and a source of debt that was not affordable. That the existing London transport infrastructure was much more important.

Khoodeelaar! Told UK D Cameron  so!

That big biz agenda scam Crossrail was a diversion, a waste and a source of debt that was not affordable. That the existing London transport infrastructure was much more important.

Now that even D Cameron  has begun to see that we were absolutely accurate, spot on and truthful, he has only one option that he can apply: say that Crossrail is crass and that if he [uk D  Cameron ] leads his party into govt following the election, he will scrap the scam.

If D Cameron  does say this then he will gain much needed credibility. In the context of accountability. And towards truthfulness in the UK parliament. If D Cameron  fails to say so then he will stay in the moral rot where all ‘mainstream’ political party leaders and their gangs are in the UK  and have been for decades.

We have also been pointing out with daily evidential update and illustration for over six years now that the existing transport infrastructure in London was not up to standard and that without addressing  the upgrade, maintenance needs in that infrastructure, the economic priorities of the travelling London public could not be begun to be addressed. And that is the crux.

Nobody who ignored that could be even included in a list of possible representatives of the people of London let alone of the uk we have pointed out with regular evidential illustrations that the touts in office of the big business agenda scam Crossrail were lying against other regions of the uk when they said that ‘lundun’ was funding the rest of the uk.

We have been showing that the touts did the lying to undermine the genuine transport needs of the regions.

They did do that to overstress the importance of big biz agenda scam Crossrail. Will uk Dave Cameron  distance himself from all of that touting for Crossrail and will he speak out for the  long neglected and long ignored  and the long distorted [by the ‘london-ott-mythology’-centric lying touts of big business] economic and the transport economic needs of the various regions of the uk  in the context of this analysis? Does UK D Cameron  have what it takes to tell the latest big business lying scam HS [=high speed rail]  lobby to get lost?

Is uk D Cameron  a prisoner of big biz policy dictating lobby or is he a democratic representative of objectively active opinion in ain intellectually autonomous independently sovereign uk? Can Cameron  tell the difference between the liesmen of the Lehman brothers, their stooged and colluding bib biz serving SLEAZEball law firm linklaters and their sorts and the genuinely independent sources of legal and constitutional and democratic opinion, advice and insight in and for the uk? Is Cameron  putting Sam on [we have devised a phrase there as a diagnostic device to detect the depth of Cameron ’s moral destitution here] the parade for a substantive political purpose of conveying a truth?

Or is he doing so because he lacks any substance of a morally forceful political message to put across instead of indulging in the  de facto exchange of gloating assertions around a trophy wife in the run up to a vulgarised formal election?

UK Con David Cameron  should not indulge  in con! UK con D Cameron  should avoid all con.
