Johnson backs action over Heathrow

Heathrow Airport opens its fifth terminal
The battle over Heathrow continues, with London Mayor Boris Johnson backing legal action against the government should it push through plans to create a third runway at Heathrow. The legal action would be on environmental grounds since going from 480,000 to 700,000 flights every year is likely to go against EU pollution legislation to be introduced in 2010.
The 2M group of local authorities is looking into the feasibility of legal action should Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon agree to the extension, as is expected. The Mayor is said to have offered to pay £15,000 towards any legal costs and could contribute more if required. Johnson’s spokesman said there were serious concerns for the local environment in terms of noise and air quality.
After Department for Transport papers revealed that attempts to keep pollution within limits could be "too costly or impractical", Edward Lister, the leader of Wandsworth council who represented the 2M group, said: "We are trying to show that the whole basis on which the government wants to justify expansion is bogus. It’s great that Boris is supporting this action and it’s not too late for the government to think again."
Labour’s deputy leader Harriet Harman is said to be concerned about the Heathrow plans as are Environment Secretary Hilary Benn, Foreign Secretary David Miliband and climate change minister Joan Ruddock.

KHOODEELAAR! updating the evidence and the the culture of unconstitutionality that we have witnessed at every stage over Crossrail..[350]
1205 Hrs GMT London saturday 29 November 2008
When Gordon Brown said on Wednesday that he would change the 'system' so that the then just reported horrors of the British father having raped his two daughters for more than 20 years would not happen again, did he say that as a serious statement?
If so then Brown could not have been more careless. And wrong.
What SYSTEM was he talking about?
Surely not the ‘local Councils’ and their social services?
Almost about the same time as Brown was making that SYSTEM utterance, the time-serving bureaucracies on local councils were staging their then latest ‘defence’ and pleading via the BBC that they should be supported and not ‘persecuted’...
What is most certainly NOT in need of change is the alleged SYSTEM.
Why?
Because nobody is the ‘system’ will admit to doing wrong or to being negligent as justifiable conduct.
What BROWN did not say and what he must understand urgently is that there is a culture in place of overwhelming corruption and lying and deception.…
It is NOT a systemic failure. it is a cultural failure...
It is a culture of denial.…
Just like the culture of unconstitutionality that we have witnessed at every stage over Crossrail...
The local Tower Hamlets Council as well as all the other local councils en route [!!!!.. they have lied for Big Business Crossrail scam... Not according to the system... but DESPITE the system.….

KHOODEELAAR! updating the evidence and the analysis of Gordon Brown's fallacies in funding Big Business at the expense of the UK society [348.b]
1150 Hrs GMT London Saturday 29 November 2008:
KHOODEELAAR! told Brown so! Now the OECD begins to echo what KHOODEELAAR! has been saying about the delicate state of the UK 'economy'/ Brown would be ADDITIONALLY foolish and ill-advised to abuse his powers at No 10 Downing Street and carry on funding Big Business Crossrail which is a waste beyond denunciation... KHOODEELAAR! telling Gordon Brown to resist the irrational temptation to abuse his powers in office...Instead Brown should act rationally and RESPONSIBLY and SCRAP the London Crossrail scam, as it is obsolete, contradictory, wasteful, callously contrived and is NOT needed by the UK economy... NOR is it affordable by the UK economy... [To be continued]
