"Network Rail picks Scott Wilson for Crossrail design role

Engineering consultant Scott Wilson has bagged a £9.8m contract to design stations and other structures on the above-ground sections of the Crossrail route.

Network Rail has chosen the company to draw up plans that will form the basis of the infracos £2.3bn contribution to the Crossrail project. Scott Wilson says a range of design options will be produced to transform the current above ground rail network into one capable of running Crossrails new services. The contract covers track, civils, buildings, overhead electrification and telecommunications. Work will begin immediately to allow a single option to be selected in early 2010.
