Martin Kettle misses the point! [See the linked piece on the Guardian.co.uk website]
Whatever the 'security' concerns of former Commander at the Metropolitan Police Andy Hayman [as he has been ventilating via the Times news organisation today] following Leila Deen's 'assault' on Peter Mandelson shortly after 8 AM [0800 Hrs GMT] today [Friday 6 March 2009] in central London, the facts of lives of thousands of active campaigners show that we ARE in a surveillance state and that we ARE in a police state. Martin Kettle is not only missing the point. He is lying. As he lied in his over-plugged little contribution about Britain of the 1970s and 1980s.
It is the institutionally peddled liars for the repressive aspects of the UK state who are allowed to pose as 'authentic and reasonable observers' of the behaviour of the state, who commit the worse offence against liberty, freedom and democracy.
What Kettle is confusingly referring to as 'we all' is a telling clue and the core phrase that is in fact the central evidence of the assignment that Kettle is now on.
Of course not every single individual walking is under the police state duress and oppression.
That is only a tactical point.
They could not spy on and hassle every single individual in society.
And they would not have to.
They only need to spy on and hassle a strategically targeted number.
That is what has been going on.
And the Guardian has been the KEY promoter and apologist of the downward spiralling repressive state in the UK.
Kettle may be less ubiquitous than Jonathan Fraudland but the two of them are on the same operation: serving s apologists for a new empire, new racism and a new repressive state.
And the Guardian did not suddenly become the liberal-posing key tout for the repressive forces.
Peter Preston shopped Sarah Tisdall who was sent to jail for blowing the whistle on the then repressive behaviour
And on international issues, the Guardian is daily touting for the more repressive wings of the new imperialists…
It is thus not an accident that Kettle does not make anything of the reasons that Leila Deen gave for her particular action visa a vis Peter Mandelson.
She said that democracy is not working.
Democracy did not work this morning.
And democracy is not working in the evening.
Democracy has not worked for a long time. For a very large number of people.
Including the thousands who are being targeted for all sorts of violations OF their rights by Crossrail Big Business scam.
A Scam that the Guardian has collided in peddling and promoting.
A scam that was given the rubber stamp [ ‘Crossrail Bill’ being made into 'law' = the 'Crossrail Act'] in July in the UK ‘Parliament’ where no debate was held. No evidence was demanded, no scrutiny permitted.
If ‘parliament; itself behaves to repress and to deny the evidence, there cannot be any doubt that ‘democracy’ is not working.
That means that democracy is not even allowed to be applied, to be tried……..
It is more than significant that Kettle does not go into that area…Instead he launches into an attack on those, like the little person with a custard cup, who vent years of frustration at lack of democracy….
Not to begin to wonder why it is that Kettle feigns deafness to the other terms all relevant which Leila Deen stated in relation to the role of the likes of undemocratic occupiers of state positions. She talked about sleaze… She talked about Big Business. She talked about corruption….
