KHOODEELAAR! Told you so! Big Business interests spawn even bigger greed in their touts... And on the day that witnessed Barnet London Borough Council's 'mayor' Coleman being found guilty of abusing his position and insulting a locally based blogger, the very fact that G Osborn could even make a claim about Tory Councils 'showing the way' is itself an abuse...
And despite their apparent awareness of Barnet's ambivalent location in the league table of Osborn's fantasy Conservative Councils, the Murdoch Times fails to tell the truth about the outrage of undemocracy that is the idea of local council in England.
Of any colours politically. And of all colours. The Councils are not accountable. They are not democratic.
They are not competent except in letting the councillors and their assortments of entourages and hangers on make the loot and pocket the proceeds…
The same is true of the London Assembly. It is an emabarassing symbol of Tony Blair’s corruption legacy.
The Assembly is a standing joke...Blair could not have understood democracy at all if he had any central part in crafting the collection.
It is not made up of democrats. It is made of time-serving little timers. As is the post of ‘mayor’. It is a grotesque denial of the ethics and the requirements of accountability. The post can only be justified if its occupant is under due and daily scrutiny...
It is not even under scrutiny annually... It is a charade. It is a sham post and it is only suitable for the promotion of ego and cravings…
How can the occupant of that post be painted by Friday’s Times newspaper and the week’s Daily Mail as fit even for the current office, let alone for the office of the country’s highest ranking civilian post? They can only do that if they too are strangers to democratic accountability…
[To be continued]
