LOCAL COUNCILs must be held to account to the public....
Today’s [Wednesday 12 November 2008] staging of the PMQs is destined to go down as a defining one for Brown's entire career. Also it will seriously undermine Brown's attempts, at any stage in the future, to utter phrases and words that include 'vah-loos'. It was noticeable that Brown was not intent at all on stressing any of those ‘vah-loos’ as he battled to fend off the repeated questions...The treatment of Child B must not be allowed to become a party political, sectarian or religious or nationality issue at all.. It is the universal right of every child to be humanely and positively treated. And protected... That Haringey [The London local Council] has been the scene of two such monumental failures now in the past decade draws legitimate attention on to the role of local councils. Are they delivering democracy? And human and humane rights?
