KHOODEELAAR! No to Crossrail hole scam CAMPAIGN updating the evidence of the negligence of GLA members: Valerie Shawcross

2350 Hrs GMT London Monday 5 January 2009: Brick Lane Community Business Association asks Greater London Assembly member Valerie Shawcross to explain her contradictory utterances on transport fares... and her failure to explain why she ahs been silent on the wasteful fares-raising, council-tax-increasing Crossrail.....In a communication sent this evening to Valerie Shawcross at her GLA address, the Brick Lane Community Business Association have put the following questions to Ms Shawcross…. On the records, like John Biggs, she has been appearing to be eager to put quite a few questions to Boris Johnson.. When you look at the core of what she has been saying, however, Valerie Shawcross is exposed just as politically shallow as John Biggs…. And in the context of Crossrail wastefulness, just as irresponsible and unthinking as Boris Johnson… They ALL prefer to pretend that CRASS rail is not happening…. Not one of them has shown a single instance of probity about public funding when it comes to Crossrail funding…. What is the secret? Who is behind the this secrecy? It can only be the inevitable, obvious truth… They know that Crossrail is a scam cobbled together by Big Business lobby and interests…. They all ‘hope’ that one fine morning a ‘justification’ will appear by a miraculous coincidence and they all will be able to breathe sighs of relief.. Until then they are lumbered with Crossrail…the ‘task’ their careers dictate they must perform by peddling it… Because that is what the careerist path in the ‘party’ says they should do….. They know there is no reason or rhyme for putting up anything from £16 thousand million of public money at 2009 prices to Crossrail…..

The following has been sent to Valerie Shawcross:
What about the cost of Crossrail?

Or is it okay for some fair hikes to be imposed on ordinary people if the party political agenda says so? When you have been voicing concern on the transport needs of south Londoners, have you got the time – in all that time - to ask yourself about the existing transport infrastructure which is being IGNORED by the decision-makers pushing for the fares-hiking, council-tax-raising public funding of the oversold Crossrail?

In the years that you have been sitting as a career politician on the GLA in the name of the electors, have you come across one instance of ordinary electors DEMANDING the implementation at public costs of a project that corresponds to the Crossrail project? If sop, what is that source? IF not, why have you applied one rule on all other transport issues and another on Crossrail? Only because a project is conceptually feasible does that mean that it has to be funded by the public? What is the EVIDENCE that the existing and the practically foreseeable economy of the UK will 'benefit' from the huge public expenditure on Crossrail at January 2009 prices? We do not expect you to answer this in a non-partisan, non-careerist, truthful way at all. But we are able to say that we have given you this opportunity to tell the truth, nothing
