After being accused of not doing enough to promote London and mothballing 'Ken's Embassy’s' across the left wing world - Mayor Boris Johnson is showing them how to do it and hitting the south coast of France.
It won't be luxury boats and movie stars for the Tory boy and his handful of advisers - rather the schmoozing, handshaking, and drum beating that goes with selling London, to the world.
Predecessor Ken Livingstone was berated for taking City Hall with him to the same international property show in Cannes.
The £30,000 spent that time is unlikely to be dwarfed under austerity Johnson's watch.
A place to do business
Despite all the recent and continuing turmoil in the financial services sector, which used to be our strongest chip, Johnson will continue to push that Britain, more importantly London, is the best place to do business.
At the peak of the economic boom, the show drew almost 30,000 delegates - this year's figure is expected to be considerably lower, reflecting the impact of the global recession.
Heathrow - Crossrail - 2012
There is no shortage of investment potential in London with the development of the East End for the 2012 Olympics, the £16bn Crossrail project and however much he doth protest - the billions tied in to the expansion of Heathrow Airport.
Johnson said:
"I'll be telling those investors and developers that the future for London is spectacularly bright and they can look forward to a good return on every pound, dollar, euro or yuan that they put into our fantastic city."
