The London Daily Mail dismisses the lib dems’ ‘manifesto’ [published yesterday Wednesday 14 April 2010] in an editorial headlined: “why Lib Dems are still not the third way”. Which is about accurate as far as the response of viewers to the over the top TV-relayed ‘launch’ of the event staged. Where the Daily Mail gets it wrong is in its continuing perpetration of the lie that Vince Cable is ‘popular’ and by implication he is ‘economically knowledgeable, competent and has what it takes to sort out the UK’s economy…’ The Daily Mail should hasten to add that Vince Cable has been the beneficiary of a spin that was based on his rehearsed delivery of the one-liner at the expense of his friend and rival Gordon Brown. He and Brown go back decades. That ‘transformation’ of Gordon Brown “from Stalin to Mr Bean” [the line Vince Cable uttered in the UK House of Commons] was nothing whatever to do with economics and everything to do with Vince Cable’s personal knowledge of Gordon Brown. Yet that utterance has caused a non-entity to be catapulted into a spot that he is still allowed to occupy. This is not an achievement by the lib dems. This is a telling comment on the bankruptcy of the UK parliament. That it has not got people of substance. And the transformation of Vince Cable from non-entity to ‘Mail on Sunday'-plugged 'political celebrity’ [which is itself a definite oddity] is being promoted beyond all evidential justification of the relevance of the Party to the life of the people in the country. So the Daily Mail is contradicting itself in promoting Vince Cable as the Lib Dems’ ‘popular economics spokesperson’ while failing to point out that the Lib Dems’ ‘failing economic plan’ [the failure constituting the substance of the Daily mail’s editorial rejection of the Lib Dems’] as contained in and represented by their Manifesto is evidence of Vince Cable’s failure in that very role! While the Daily Mail editorial comment may have been written by someone who is as ignorant of the UK politics as they are of the realities in the inner city East End of London. The very area which keeps being cited as the ‘most or one of the most deprived’ parts of the UK, as the DAILY MAIL allowed Heather Brooke to do in March this year. KHOODEELAAR! exposed Vince Cable’s ignorance in October 2009 when we published the picture we are running here again. This picture was taken during Vince Cable’s appearance on a Tower Hamlets Lib Dems platform staged in Bethnal Green. Cable confessed that he didn’t know if Crossrail ‘came through’ the East End area where he was appearing! And where he was speaking, ‘praising the Crossrail scheme’! Three weeks earlier, he had featured in the London EVENING STANDARD again hogging the headline and denying Nick Clegg the attention, by saying that CrossRail was not a priority for the Lib Dems! So he has shown that he is clueless when it comes to CrossRail. Considering that the costs of Crossrail run into £Billions, the Cable’s cloudlessness is crucial and his ignorance as we have been showing is politically and economically catastrophic… Especially looking at his promotion by the ‘Election 2010 media herds’ who keep plugging Cable as a ‘celebrity’ as they did a few times during Wednesday.
One plug was of course to the effect that in a hung Parliament following the scheduled 6 May 2010 UK general Election cable could end up being the UK Finance Minister…
